Dan hates running. No he doesn't just hate it, he REALLY hates it. Sees no fun in it, dubs it as torture, yada yada yada. Well after I asked EVERYONE I could possibly think of to run the half marathon with me to no avail, to my surprise, Dan signed up. He had no intention of ever finishing. His only reason for signing up was simply so I would have someone to start the race with (insert tear and Dan getting the husband of the year award here). I quote "We will go to the starting line together, then you run the thing and I will have E1 pick me up a couple miles out"

Keep in mind he hates running.....

Keep in mind he didn't do a lick of training.....

By gollly he finished ALL 13.1 miles!!! I am so proud of him!! As he was crossing the finish line tears were streaming down my face. YAY FOR DAN! I knew you could do it!!
And now here are my thoughts as I trudged the 13.1 miles to the finish line without stopping to walk (oh ya I am THAT rad).
Mile 1: "I wonder if you can run with frost bitten toes, I can't believe I ever survived living in this place, its freezing"
.
Mile 2: "Ok there go the toes they are officially numb"
.
Mile 3: "wow that many people need to pee already?! Tiny Tanks"
.
Mile 4: "Finally the fingers and toes are warming up"
Mile 5: "I wonder where we will eat for lunch today"
.
Mile 6: "hmmm running and drinking water at the same time I guess doesn't work"
.
Mile 7: Got 2 thumbs up from Anthon cheering from the side of the road
Mile 7: Got 2 thumbs up from Anthon cheering from the side of the road
Mile 8ish: "What is that legs? your done?"
.
Mile 9: "Good golly how long is Hollow Road. Geeezze"
.
Mile 10: "I wonder if there is a snow cone shack along the route here"
.
Mile 11: Blow kisses to Dad & Ann cheering me on the sidelines.
.
Mile 12: The Cure comes on the tunes, perfectly set for the last leg of the race
Mile 12: The Cure comes on the tunes, perfectly set for the last leg of the race
Mile 13: "Hallelujah!!!, now where are the post race twinkies?"
So it was a great accomplishment since the most I have EVER ran in my life is about 9 miles. My legs hurt, my hip hurt, my feet hurt, and my right knee hurt. Do I want to try and run a full marathon next year....ummm NO. But yay I did it!! Next year: Beat Muff!!
Oh and stay tuned for more exciting news from the Ernstrom casa...
....
and NO I am not pregnant.
